Get to know us!
Roberto and Paolo started doing golf
cart tours in 2010. They were doing their tours by
car before they had the idea of the golf carts. They
had both been doing it for several decades and
therefore, the clients that hired them expected to
be taken around Rome by car. However, since Roberto
and Paolo discovered the golf carts and realized
they were much better means to tour around Rome than
the cumbersome minivans, when they met their clients
and started the tour in the minivan, they always
proposed to switch to the golf cart. Most times
their proposal was accepted with enthusiasm by the
clients and after a while the word spread out and
nobody asked to tour by car anymore!
After a while another friend, Max, got curious
about what Roberto and Paolo were doing with the
golf carts, asked to join in and, at that point,
they had to officially found a company and so My
Best Tour was founded in March 2012.
Not long after this, they ran into another friend,
Fabrizio, had thought himself the cumbersome
minivans ha done their time and had bought an Ape (a
sort of 3-wheeler Vespa) in which he could take 3
passengers, he hadn't though of the golf carts, more
comfortable, ecologic, stable and silent than the
3-wheeler he was using, but he had the mentality it
took to join My Best Tour, so he did!
All four founders, Roberto, Max, Fabrizio and Paolo,
are second generation in the tour business and they've
been touring people in cars and minivans since they
were in their 20's. Times change tough and driving around Rome
in cumbersome minivans kept getting more and more
difficult; because of new regulations, terrible traffic and
lack of parking spaces, so they decided to change the
means of transportation and switched to smaller,
environment friendly and silent electric vehicles: the street
legal golf carts!
Driving around Rome in golf carts made them feel
free! Free to reach places cumbersome minivans could not access, finding little spaces where to park
the golf carts and
walk to a tucked away little church and show the masterpieces
hidden in it or take the clients
to a great “gelato” place that most tourists would
not find. The golf carts made them rediscover
their city. Free to finally get back
to places that were out of reach when they toured by
The golf carts instead made Old
Rome's narrow streets accessible again and take
their clients to discover the real Rome, the areas
where present Romans live their lives! Take the

eat, drink where the Romans drink! My Best Tour is
made of Romans, proud of their city and wanting to
show it the way it deserves to be showed!
It just happened that Paolo drove his
Mercedes to the hotel his clients where were staying
to take them on the usual car tour. They got in the
car and drove off. The first stop Paolo made was the
Pincio Terrace in Villa Borghese from where one can
enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramas of Rome
but, in order to see the view, the clients had to
walk about one hundred yards. Well, the lady said
she couldn't make it because she had problems with
Paolo got worried. He was supposed to
take these people around Rome for three consecutive
days and, if the lady couldn't even walk one hundred
yards, what could he show them? Luckily, there was a
man there that was renting old and beat up golf
carts for people to drive around the park. he looked
at the golf carts and looked at the lady and said:
"Lady, these itty bitty things can drive almost
anywhere in the city and if I take you around in one
of these, I think I can show all the sites
without making you walk. Shall we rent one and see
how it goes?"
The lady agreed to try for it a couple
of hours, but soon both, the clients and Paolo,
realized it was so enjoyable that the "couple of hours" became the whole day
and also the next two days!
Paolo understood that was the future
and called up his buddy Roberto saying: You're not
going to believe what I'm doing! I'm on my way to
the Colosseum and should be there in about fifteen
minutes, if you're done with your tour, come and
meet me there, you're not going to believe what
Roberto had just dropped off his
clients at their hotel and the Colosseum was on his
way home, so he agreed to meet Paolo there.
Where he got there and saw Paolo and
his clients in the golf cart he started laughing. He
questioned the clients and they told him they where
doing their best tour ever and Paolo added: It's my
best tour too!
We would like you not to
think of us as your guides, your drivers and such,
we want you to think of us as your friends in Rome
because we'll treat you like you were friends from
out of town!
We just can't wait to take you on a our fantastic,
ecological, environment friendly and most enjoyable
tour of Rome by electric golf cart. The first time
we showed people around Rome by golf cart, we loved
it and so did our clients!
However, though the golf cart tours are our
specialty, there are other things we can do for you.
Things we did before we had the golf cart idea and
new things, like tours in the countryside, cooking
classes, wine tasting, personal shopper and more,
just ask us what you need and we will surely do our
best to accommodate you!
We've all been in this business many, many years and
we know what's going on...

The golf cart
(aka Rob for short)
Together with Paolo,
Roberto is the one that started doing
golf cart tours and My Best Tour company. Having been good friends for a
very long time, they shared the
idea and the cost of buying the first
cart. Business got bigger since then, but so did
Roberto's enthusiasm for this kind of tours!
He loves driving the golf cart around Rome, but
still he likes to drive tourists around in his
minivan to see sites outside of the city on day
trips or multiple day trips. He especially loves
Tuscany and knows it like the back of his hand.
He complains because visitors of this website
focus on the golf cart tours and hardly ever
visit the country tours page. Make him happy and
Roberto has been in the business since he was born. His father showed
tourists around for a living just like he does
and thought him all the tricks of the trade. He
speaks very good English and Spanish, knows
Rome and Italy extremely well and he can
tour you anywhere.
Max the tour business is a family business, not
only his father was in it, but also his
brothers! Max is the
youngest of three brothers and is the one who enjoys
his job the most and he's always open to new
experiences, that's why he joined us!
Max is having a great time with the golf carts,
but he also likes to work as a walking guide. He
can take you through the
and the rest of the diggings and he wouldn't
mind taking you on a trip outside of Rome to see
the fantastic sites just outside Rome or further
Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast.
He speaks good English and Spanish, really
knows his history and he's always laughing!
Max's wife is also a guide and she speaks
Fabrizio is in the tour business by trade, loves to show
people around and does it with a lot of passion, but he also has
a passion for food! So, years ago, he opened up a
Japanese restaurant. Yes, no joke, Japanese! He was very
successful from the beginning, and soon opened the next
one. But then the global economy crisis forced him to
close down his restaurants and come back to
the family business and make a living out of showing tourists around. Not knowing that Roberto, Max and Paolo were
starting the golf cart tours and wanting to do something
different from the ordinary tour,
he chose the 3-wheeler Vespa called "Ape" as
means of transportation for his tours. He'll take you on your tour of Rome
in a golf cart or in his 3-wheeler if you want to reach
destinations that are too far for the golf carts.
In fact the 3-wheeler is equipped with a diesel engine
and therefore it operates on a much wider range than the
golf carts which ae limited by the batteries' life.
Son of the man they say was the first driving guide of
Rome, Paolo has been conducting tours since he was 17
years old. He shared with Roberto
the idea of the
golf cart tours and started My Best Tour
As a young man, he worked as a free lance tour
conductor, taking large tour groups of tourists all over
Europe. He also worked as a clerk in travel several
travel agencies that were famous in the 70's and 80's.
Later, following his father's footsteps, he started
working as a driving guide and, all together worked in
the tour business for nearly 50 years!
However, he's not doing tours anymore, now that the
company got bigger someone had to sit in the office and
make things run so, since he's the oldest in the group,
he was chosen for this job. He misses running around
He speaks English and Spanish
fluently, plus conversational German, French and
Right after he was born here in Rome, his family moved to the USA.
When he was little he lived in America but then he came back to Rome, and then
he went back to the States, then he came back to
Rome, and then he went back to the States, then he
came back to Rome, and then he went back to the
States... 35 times across the ocean before he finally decided
this is where he wants to be! At least that's what it
looks like for now...
Vic is very smart and it didn't take long to train him.
He has less experience that the rest of the team
obviously, but he caught up really well and he's an
He's been with us from the beginning of the golf cat
tours adventure, loves his job and everyone who toured
with absolutely raves about the experience.
Renato has been in the tour business 50 years, just
as long as Paolo and they've been friends all this
time. He travelled around the world a lot when he
was young, before he decided to settle down in Rome.
He was in Germany, Holland, Brazil and even
He speaks English, German, Dutch and Portuguese.
When he's not touring people around, he's reading
books about Rome. His knowledge of the city is
profound! He likes to tour people around in a golf
cart, but he doesn't mind using his minivan for
touring around either.
So, if you like to be comfortable in an
air-conditioned car when it rains, or if you want to
go on a tour outside of the city, Renato will be
happy to take you around in his minivan. Obviously,
just like the rest of us, also Renato thinks that
the golf cart is the best means to tour Rome.
Giuseppe is a young man of many talents, speaks fluent
English and Dutch, but he's also an artist. He likes to
paint and play the guitar and he's good at both. But
what you want to know is that he's a very good guide and
a very good driver, a real asset for MBT!
He was only 19 years old when he started working with us
and often, when he introduces himself to the clients, he
gets the "this kid is taking us?" look from them. But it
takes them minutes to realize they couldn't be in better
hands. Coming from a large family (11 kids!) he's also
very good with children and he has a disabled uncle he
takes care of, so he's good with the disabled too. Great
He's been with My Best Tours a few years now, and we
really miss him when he takes a few days off to go and
visit his parents and siblings now living in France.

Valerio, just like Joe, is another smart young
man that's been with us a few years.
We got to know him when he was working for the
people that rent out Segways in the park and
part time with a limo company, but he was
wasting his talent and he didn't like the people
he was working for, so he quit his job and came
to work with us.
Like all the others, at first he was only
driving the second cart when we had large
groups, but he's a smart kid, and it didn't take
him long to learn to conduct the tours himself.
He studied Rome's history and now he really
masters the job.
He likes his job and people enjoy the way he
tours them around.
Silvia is the only girl in the group (for now
J), she's been with us
for a while and our clients really like her! She's
sister to a friend that works for us at times and
she came to work with us herself when quit her job
at the airport where she was working as a
stewardess. She spent many years living in England
where she got her degree in scenography adding on to
her Italian degree in fine arts.
At first she was also just driving the second cart,
but it didn't take this smart girl long to learn to
conduct the tours himself, also because she's
graduated in art. She just got deeper in Rome's
history and now she's really good at what she does!
Ralph has joined us in early 2016, as we were
looking for someone to work in our office replying
to e-mails and such.
Pretty soon it showed that he was a brilliant young
man who liked the job and liked working with us. But
he said he wasn't interested in doing the tours, he
was fine in the office. At times when we were short
handed we had to use him as a second driver though,
and he didn't mind. Yet it didn't take him long to
learn to conduct the tours himself and, though his
primary occupation is in the office, quite
frequently, during the high season, he's out doing
He's quite a character and he's always making jokes
he's kind of becoming known as "they guy that makes
you laugh" J!
Not to be forgotten, he has a university degree in
English and Spanish. If you want to check out what

Giuseppe is a man with experience. He knows Rome
inside out and he speaks a very good English
(despite the charming Italian accent).
Before working with us he's been a professional
baseball player, playing with Italy's National Team,
and a TWA employee. When things started to get bad
for TWA, they made it easy for him to retire early,
yet he was still young, so he got himself a job as a
driving guide with a limo company. When he had
enough driving a minivan long hours and traffic, and
learnt about what we were doing with the golf carts,
he joined in with a lot of enthusiasm.
He also attended archaeology and history courses at
the University of Rome and the University of Tuscia.
Lorenzo (Milo for short) is a friend of
Ralph's and one day that we were short handed we
asked Ralph if he knew anybody who come come and
lend a hand driving the second cart, so Milo showed
up. We liked him as we saw him. Unexpectedly he
spoke English and Spanish and liked the job
immediately. He's another smart kid and it took him
a few months to learn what he needed to learn to
conduct his own tours, no more second driver for
He has a has a university degree in economy, and
pretty soon he could become the company's accountant
The "Ape". Old
fashioned, typical Italian, this
3-wheeler derives from the world's most
famous scooter, the Vespa. "Vespa" means
wasp and "Ape" means bee in Italian. The
3-wheeler version of the Vespa, designed
to help men in their work, was named
after the industrious insect, the bee.
«Our smallest golf cart accommodates up
to 3 passengers plus driver, total 4, all facing forward and also
a cargo box which we can leave open and carry
a wheel chair in it, or we put a lid on it and you can
store your gear in it. We have a lot of these carts
now, but we cannot let you choose which one you want
to tour in.
We'll accommodate groups with more than 3 people in
one of the larger carts if available, or in
more than one cart.
For 7 passengers, we use the "stretched" golf cart
if available, otherwise they will be accommodated in
two of the smaller ones.
«When we have to tour in more
than one cart, we stay very close together and we
stop often to provide a commentary to the whole
Upon request, passengers will be
provided with earpieces through which they will be
able to hear the commentary from the driver/guide in
the leading cart who'll be speaking into a microphone.
«You'll be picked up from your hotel
and the tour will start from there if this is within
the golf carts' driving zone. But if your
hotel is not in the city center, meaning
inside Rome's Walls, you'll need to come to meet us
in the city by your own means.
« The average range a
golf cart drives, with fully charged batteries, is
70/80 kilometers (45/50 miles) enough for a full day tour
of Rome, but not to come and meet you at your place
if it's not in the city center.
«Generally the hotels located outside
Rome's historical center provide shuttle service
driving their guests to the city center on a regular
schedule, if this is your case we'll come to meet
you where the hotel's shuttle drops you off.
Differently we will have to discuss where the most
convenient place to meet would be.
«Though our carts don't come with air
conditioning and Rome is hot in the summer, it is
not uncomfortable to drive around Rome even when
it's hot. There's always a nice breeze in Rome which
makes driving in a golf cart pleasant. Plus we mostly
drive through the narrow shady streets of old Rome
that are always quite cool. Even a nice air
conditioned Mercedes can be unpleasant to drive
after it's been parked in the sun for half an hour!
The golf cart tour is not just a
driving tour! We stop at the sites, let you get out of the cart to
walk around the sites, tour the inside of the buildings and give
the appropriate commentary. During the
tour we'll also take you to a great place for "gelato", cappuccino
or for lunch. We know all the best places!
«We charge hourly rates (the
cheapest tour is the 2-hour Rome by night) and we do not
follow preset itineraries. We'll take you anywhere,
within the golf cart's range, you want to go!
«Our tours are designed to
match our clients’ interests. The purpose for the
itineraries listed on this website is to give you an
idea of what you can see in Rome touring by a golf
cart Rome in the allotted time.
«Four hours is the minimum you
can hire us for and you can go for the whole day if
you like. The full day tour is the best! Naturally
you can hire us for multiple days and we'll
always have something new to show every day!
«We do not like to drive our
golf carts on the main streets. We like to get to
the main attractions driving on the quaint back
streets and so avoid traffic, noise, fumes... and
other tourists !!! Our tours take you off the beaten
path and to the major highlights of Rome.
We'll show things you'll not expect to see. You'll
be able to take pictures and videos without getting
out of the cart, but we'll always stop for you
anytime you ask us to and let you take the picture
you want or take a closer look at something that
tickles your curiosity.
If this is your first time in Rome we'll focus our
tour on the major highlights, if you are already
familiar with Rome we'll show you other enchanting
places that are not as famous but equally
When we tour with you to the fundamental highlights
of Rome, we drive on the narrow backstreets and let
you discover what could be defined as "hidden Rome"
and you'll realize that Rome is not a theme park but
a real city. You'll get look inside workshops were
artisans are immersed in their daily occupations,
incredible courtyards and out of the way churches.
